Mike Gatting OBE
Mike Gatting made his debut for Middlesex in 1975 and played his professional cricket at Lord’s for the next 23 years until his retirement in 1998 with a batting record of 94 centuries to his name. He scored over 36,000 first class runs and over 14,000 in limited over games.
He made his test debut against Pakistan in 1978 although it took him seven more years, and 54 Test innings, before he made a hundred, after which he went on to make 10 in total for England.
He also captained Middlesex for 14 years and his country in 23 test matches.
