Nick Gillingham MBE

Nick Gillingham was ranked number one in the world for the 200mts breaststroke during in the years 1989: 1990: 1991: 1993 and 1994 and number one in the world for the 100mts breaststroke in 1992. At different stages in a distinguished career he set 3 World, 10 European, 9 Commonwealth and 17 British records for his individual breaststroke events winning a total of 17 Championship medals including 5 gold.
Nick has been European Champion for the 200mts Breaststroke on 3 consecutive occasions re-writing the history books in doing so. Nick has taken World and Commonwealth titles and at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games took Bronze, adding to his 1988 Olympic Silver.
Nick retired from full-time competitive sport during 1996 and set up his own sports communication business SCG Initiatives now Sports Communication Group Limited, as Company Director there is a focus on sports marketing, sports development and sports events.
Nick has delivered motivational and planning for success programmes to many Olympic squads through his work with the British Olympic Association and was responsible for the Gold Coast Public Relations Community Link Programme on behalf of the British Olympic Association at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
As a television commentator, Nick covered the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games and Commonwealth Games Trials for the BBC.
Nick has presented motivational courses for regional and national businesses and has contributed to magazine articles and publications throughout the years.
Nick developed the successful swimZone programme, a swimming fitness programme for all ages and abilities available to the public throughout leisure centres and health clubs throughout the UK .
