Mark Mardell
Mark Mardell was the North American Editor for BBC News, having previously served as the BBC’s Europe editor based in Brussels.
Starting out in local then national radio, he moved to the BBC in 1989 as a political correspondent.
He spent eight years as political editor of the corporation’s flagship late night current affairs programme Newsnight, during which time he covered many political stories including the fall of Margaret Thatcher and the rise of Tony Blair.
