Jonathan Doidge
Jonathan has over two decades of experience presenting to a ‘live’ audience, both as an event host and sports broadcaster.
Once a regular TV reporter for Sky Sports News and commentator for Premier Sports, he has also presented his own show on national radio for TEAMtalk252. His versatility means that he is able to move seamlessly between several sports, such as football, cricket, horse racing and both codes of rugby, as well as different media.
Currently lead commentator for the BBC’s coverage of Yorkshire cricket, he has previously worked full time for Sky, and broadcast for numerous other radio stations, including Talksport.
A talented writer, he has been a regular contributor to well known websites such as skysports.com and sportlinglife.com, as well as writing features and match reports for a variety of national and sporting press, including the Racing Post. He is also co-author of the critically acclaimed book Super League: The First 10 Years.
Jonathan’s professional life comes through clearly in his style of presentation at events, whether that be engaging the audience, exchanging banter with speakers, or using his broadcast interview skills to bring a Q&A evening to life. He has hosted functions to audiences numbering 50 to 700, hosted race meetings in the paddock at Haydock Park racecourse, and is also an excellent, humorous auctioneer.
Among many sports stars, he has worked with the likes of Ray Illingworth, Sir Richard Hadlee and Ryan Sidebottom (cricket); Garry Schofield and Brian Noble (rugby league); Peter Lorimer and David Johnson (football); Nick Mallett (rugby union); Phil Taylor (darts) and Ian Hutchinson (TT motorcycling).
