Dominic signed for Liverpool Football Club in 1992, and in 1993 he made his debut in a game against Manchester City. On this occasion he played left of midfield, but over the next couple of seasons he played in a range of positions including centre back and left back. He went on to spend an impressive eight years at Anfield.
In 2000 he was transferred to Leeds United, where he was considered to be one of their best players. He is fondly remembered by Leeds fans for the goal that he scored against AC Milan in the first group stage during the 2000/2001 Champions League. This goal ensured that they progressed to the next round. In 2002 he became team captain following the departure of Rio Ferdinand.
Dominic joined Blackburn Rovers in 2004 and remained there for three years. Following this, he signed a short term contract with Stoke City and eventually retired from football in 2009.
