Alan Bates
Alan is proud to be the most TV broadcast hypnotist in history.
During a Theatre tour of Mumbai, India, the show, commercials and interviews were shown to the entire population of India, a record 1.237 Billion people. Among his other TV appearances, Alan can include the BBC’s The Graham Norton Show, UTV World Movies, PBS Malta, and The Saturday Night Show on Ireland’s RTE network to name a few.
Alan has performed across the world, his highlight was receiving an invitation to perform for the Royal Family of Brunei on the occasion of Princess Hamidah’s Birthday. Alan has also performed in Theatre shows all over Europe, and has toured with Psychic Medium Derek Acorah from the TV show Most Haunted, starring in their show The Paranormal Experience.
Based in Cheshire, England, Alan Bates has been performing Hypnosis shows for over thirty years. Alan first found work as a DJ / Presenter in England then went to work in the United States and the Caribbean for three years, employed as Casino Manager on an ocean liner. While on board he became friendly with an Illusionist who used Hypnosis in his act. Alan found this so interesting that when he came back to England he studied psychology and eventually built his own show incorporating his unique brand of comedy presentation and show content.
Alan prides himself on the respectability of the show and is a member of the Federation of Ethical Stage Hypnotists (F.E.S.H), and British Equity. The show includes audience participation but Alan stresses that you cannot be hypnotised against your will and that you will not do anything against your own personal moral values, “That is why Alan looks for volunteers without any values”! Client confidentiality is respected at all times.
The show is fast-paced and the Hypnotised Stars of the Stage may find themselves winning the Lottery on stage, being chased by ghosts, smokers offered hundreds of pounds to take just one puff (and they cannot), starring in the cast of Riverdance, feeding baby fairies or even conducting an orchestra at the “Last Night of the Proms” and afterwards receiving a knighthood and presented a Parchment Scroll by Her Majesty the Queen in the Royal Albert Hall, London. This is just a small insight as to what may happen.
